Sometimes the body has stopped. But something inside keeps running.
Guided by Gal Solomon · trained in India & Nepal
Most of us know the moment: you close your eyes to meditate, and that's exactly when every thought in the world decides to show up. Tomorrow's to-do list, something you said last week, a message you haven't answered. Even the question of whether you're “doing it right”.
Maybe the problem isn't that there are thoughts. And maybe there's no need to fight them.
A sound journey works a little differently. Instead of asking the mind to be quiet, we give it something to listen to: a tone, another tone, a vibration, a resonance — and then the silence they leave behind. The bowls become an anchor, and whenever your attention wanders off, there's something to come back to.
No force.No test.No success or failure.Just listening.
It isn't just “an hour of sound”. The experience starts before the first bowl is played, and ends in its own time.
A few minutes to leave the road and the day behind. Coffee or tea and a light snack.
A short opening talk about the bowls and the nature of the journey.
A simple, accessible practice of breath and body to gradually turn inward.
Lying comfortably on a mat. You can close your eyes, shift position, breathe and listen. No instructions to follow.
The sounds space out, the silence returns, and the body gets a few moments before getting up.
Whoever wishes can stay with a drink in the quiet of the place. No rush.
Mats, blankets and tea are provided. Just bring comfortable clothes.
Each bowl brings a different colour. Some low tones you can almost feel before you hear them; brighter tones linger in the air. Sometimes several bowls meet and create a new texture between them, and sometimes, just as a tone fades, you discover that the silence after it has a presence too.
Tibetan singing bowls produce long tones, rich in harmonics. The sound doesn't simply appear and disappear — it unfolds, changes, moves through the space and slowly fades. Instead of holding your focus with effort, you can simply follow it. Not because the bowls “do the work for us”, but because they give the mind a path to walk on.
There's no single experience that's supposed to happen. You can let whatever is there arrive as it is.

Some things are hard to explain until you get there. Desert silence is one of them. Not because there's no sound, but because something in the space changes: the sky is bigger, the horizon further, and the body meets a place that doesn't ask it to hurry.
You arrive at Zman Midbar, leave the city, the screens and the tasks behind for a few hours, meet over tea, let the evening fall — and then step into the sounds.
Sometimes the way in begins the moment you step a little outside.Ask about upcoming dates on WhatsApp
You don't need a big reason to come. Curiosity is a good reason too.

Gal SolomonCertified 500-hour yoga teacher, guide of meditation, breathwork and sound journeys
Gal's path with yoga began with more than seven years of study and practice in Israel. Over time, the physical practice grew into a wider curiosity: what lies beyond the posture, what happens when the breath becomes part of the practice, and what we can meet when we give the body and mind a little more quiet.
That curiosity led him to study in India and Nepal, deepening into Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, Pranayama breathwork and Yoga Nidra, the yogic sleep. One of the surprising encounters along the way was the sound of Tibetan singing bowls, and the possibility of using sound not only as music, but as an anchor for meditation. That encounter became the foundation of the sound journeys he guides today.
Before moving into yoga, meditation and sound, Gal worked in digital and managed SEO projects. Alongside yoga, he is also an NLP Master practitioner.
His approach is simple: you don't need to know how to stop your thoughts, you don't need to be “good” at meditation, and you can start exactly where you are. Even after years of study, the path remains a student's path — and that is where the guidance comes from.
Sessions in Hebrew or English.
Sessions take place at Zman Midbar, a desert lodge on the eastern hills of Arad, about 600 metres above sea level, overlooking the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea valley.
You can combine the experience with a stay at Zman Midbar, subject to availability and by arrangement.
The exact address and directions are sent on WhatsApp when you book.

Absolutely. No experience is needed. In fact, for people who find silent meditation hard, sound can give attention a more tangible anchor to return to throughout the journey.
No. You can come with no prior knowledge and without any particular belief about it. The experience stands on its own.
You arrive, have a drink and settle in. After a short opening talk and a breath-and-body practice, the sound journey begins, mostly lying comfortably on a mat. You can close your eyes, but you don't have to. You can change position or sit up at any point.
The sound journey itself usually lasts about an hour to an hour and a quarter. Around it there's time to arrive, have a drink and settle, and time to stay afterwards. It's best not to plan anything right after.
Comfortable clothes you can lie down and breathe in. Mats, blankets and tea are provided. And it's best to come without needing to rush off to the next thing.

If you are pregnant, live with epilepsy, use a pacemaker or another medical implant, or are dealing with a complex physical or mental health condition, please consult a medical professional in advance and let me know before the session, so we can see whether and how to adapt the experience for you.
A sound journey is a meditative experience and is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. Its purpose is to create a space for listening, conscious rest and exploring meditation through sound.

You can read about sound and talk about meditation. But at some point there's only one way to know:
Come.Lie down.Close your eyes.And listen for yourself.
